nee England

I was walking about in the sunshine the other day just thinking about how great the regions are. It's strange for me to become so regionalistic but suddenly I was overcome with a surge of regionalistic fervour, call me a sentimental old fool but I do get dewey-eyed and emotional when I think of the history of this great region of ours. I used to call them the English regions, or even the regions of England, but now I like to dispense with the formality and have adopted the government parlance for the nation formerly known as England.

One day, hopefully, our lives will be entirely run by these regions. They will advance from bureaucratic inconveniences to become proper elected government and the ancient but outdated concept of 'nation' can be consigned to the history books along with the bucolic and trite 'shire' method of local government.
