According to the Daily Mail Lord Carey has taken it upon himself to defend Britain against Gordon Brown:

The former Archbishop of Canterbury has accused Gordon Brown of undermining the identity of Britain.

Lord Carey of Clifton criticised the Prime Minister for railroading through changes to the country’s ancient constitution, damaging institutions such as the Monarchy and the Church of England.
