George Monbiot rips out Hazel Blears' throat

When left-wing opinion formers turn upon Labour ministers with such ferocity the end is nigh.

What a joy to read George Monbiot's demolition job on Hazel Blears. Patience and goodwill toward this government has melted and evaporated, even amongst their natural supporters, and for those of us for whom goodwill sublimated or was never apparent there is now, at long last, light at the end of the tunnel.

TheyWorkForYou sums up your political record thus: "Never rebels against their party in this parliament." Yours, Hazel, is the courage of the sycophant, the courage to say yes....

It seems to me that someone of your principles would fit comfortably into almost any government. All regimes require people like you, who seem to be prepared to obey orders without question. Unwavering obedience guarantees success in any administration. It also guarantees collaboration in every atrocity in which a government might engage. The greatest thing we have to fear in politics is the cowardice of politicians.

The only people left in this Government are sycophantic toads, even the GOATS have found new pastures.

Regionalise the Lords?

I often like to ask MPs why the House of Lords is allowed to scrutinise English legislation but not that of the devolved administrations. Why, I ask, should Neil Kinnock have any say on English legislation?

Invariably I am told that the House of Lords is not based on geographic constituencies so the issue of nationality and national interest does not come into it; Neil Kinnock, for example, does not sit in the House of Lords to represent Wales.

Now I hear that Hazel Blears wants the Lords to represent UK regions.

It seems that if they can't regionalise England through referenda they will do it by any means possible. How very dare they? The dirty bastards!
